Volunteer Home Page

Hello and welcome to the ODR Volunteer page!  We’re thrilled you feel called to volunteer with us, and will do our best to make your trip a moving and memorable experience.  New Orleans’ recovery and resurrection depends on the labor and resources of volunteers, and we’re thankful to have your help.  Our mission is to serve the victims of Katrina, and after gutting over 900 houses, we’ve moved into the rebuilding phase of recovery.  Our main volunteer program is the Rebuild program, but we have many other ministries that need volunteers as well.  For a complete list and explanation of these ministries, click on the Programs page.  Please contact me for help regarding your trip—we’re here to serve you!

"If I could say anything to new volunteers, it would be: arrive with an open mind and no agenda. We came down with the attitude of 'What do you need for us to do?' knowing the answer to that might change the next day."

The Rev. Milton Williams, Trinity Episcopal Church, Wall Street, New York, NY
